The Brooklyn Bridge will be closed to westbound traffic all weekend
|
This weekend, the Brooklyn Bridge will be fully closed to Manhattan-bound (westbound) traffic for 54 consecutive hours. The closure begins at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, January 12th, through 6 a.m. Monday, January 14th. Brooklyn-bound traffic will be maintained at all times.
Traffic will access the Brooklyn Bridge from Pearl Street or Centre Street using a contra-flow configuration. There will be additional access to the bridge this weekend only via the Park Row ramp from Frankfort Street. This ramp will be available only from6 a.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Sunday, and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The full-weekend westbound closures allow city Department of Transportation crews to perform rehabilitation and resurfacing work on the roadway and ramps, part of the major bridge-renovation project that began in 2010. Westbound traffic closures will continue with advance notification, and typically they will occur during overnight hours only. Additional night and weekend westbound closures will be posted on LowerManhattan.info as they are announced.
As a alternative route, motorists traveling into Manhattan are advised to travel across the Manhattan or Williamsburg Bridge, or through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel.
The city DOT will implement weekend construction embargoes on most streets around the Brooklyn Bridge during the lane-closure hours. Ramp reversals also will be planned during the full-weekend closures; for more details from the DOT click here.
Regular overnight westbound-roadway closures are continuing. Click here for regularly updated details.
