Full-weekend westbound closures are planned for the Brooklyn Bridge
|
During two upcoming weekends, the Brooklyn Bridge will be fully closed to Manhattan-bound (westbound) traffic for 54 consecutive hours. The closures begin at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, through 6 a.m. Monday, for both the weekend of October 6th and October 13th. Brooklyn-bound traffic will be maintained at all times.
The full-weekend westbound closures allow city Department of Transportation crews to perform rehabilitation and resurfacing work, part of the major bridge-renovation project that began in 2010. Westbound traffic closures will continue with advance notification, and typically they will occur during overnight hours only. Additional full-weekend westbound closures are planned for later in 2012, exact dates will be announced soon.
The DOT will implement weekend construction embargoes on most streets around the Brooklyn Bridge during the lane-closure hours. Ramp reversals also will be planned during the full-weekend closures; for more details click here.
