MetroCards bring deals in Chinatown thru Dec. 31
|
As part of an ongoing celebration of the subway's 100th anniversary, visitors to Chinatown between now and Dec. 31 can take advantage of 100 special deals with a simple flash of their MetroCard. Explore Chinatown, a tourism promotion campaign designed to help the downtown neighborhood recover from the events of 9/11, launched a special two-month promotion on Nov. 1 that includes discounts at area restaurants, shops, and tea houses; 2-for-1 admission to local museums, and reduced tickets for walking tours throughout the neighborhood to anyone who displays a MetroCard.

More than 20 area restaurants are offering impossible-to-beat prix fixe meals as part of the promotion, at just $8.88 for lunch and $18.88 for dinner. Several others are offering a 10 percent discount on any item on their menus. For a full list of participating restaurants, please click here.
The deals continue in the dozens of shops that line Chinatown's lively streets -- discounts on gifts, arts and antiques, jewelry, fashion, and much more. For a full list of area shops participating in the promotion, please click here.
And don't miss your opportunity to save on cultural attractions as well. The Museum of Chinese in the Americas, the only museum of its kind in the nation, is offering special 2-for-1 admission through the end of the year. The deal provides a terrific opportunity to take advantage of current exhibits, which include "Have You Eaten Yet? The Chinese Restaurant in America" and "Many True Stories: Life in Chinatown On and After September 11th," among others.
Additionally, the Explore Chinatown MetroCard promotion takes 15 percent off the cost of tickets for eleven different walking tours focused on the colorful history of one of Lower Manhattan's most fascinating neighborhoods.
