New Peck Slip Water-Main Segment Begins

Work is beginning on Peck Slip between Water and Pearl
Work is beginning on Peck Slip between Water and Pearl

The city will begin its next segment of water-main replacement on Friday, March 1st, as part of the Peck Slip Reconstruction project. Crews will work on Peck Slip between Water and Pearl Streets, upgrading water, sewer and other utilities for approximately four months, through approximately early June 2013. The city Department of Design and Construction also will rebuild sidewalks and curbs on Peck Slip, with crews working normal weekday hours from 7 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. (or later if necessary).

One eastbound lane of traffic will be maintained on Peck Slip throughout the project, and parking will be eliminated within the project area; pedestrian and business access will be maintained at all times. This section of work ties into the utility upgrades that are underway on Water Street and Front Street. Several of those roadways will be completed by summer 2013, including full cobblestone restoration.

Area stakeholders can sign up for Peck Slip Reconstruction weekly emails and address questions and comments to DDC Community Liaison Amelia Ramos at (212) 233-7184 or peckslipccl@gmail.com.
