John Closure for Corbin Awning Installation

The new Corbin Building awning will be installed in December
The new Corbin Building awning will be installed in December

This Saturday, December 8th, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will close John Street between Broadway and Nassau, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vehicles will be restricted, but pedestrian traffic will be maintained. The closure allows crews to safely install the new awning for ground-level commercial space inside the renovated Corbin Building. The scaffold has been removed on most the building to make space for the new awning, which was designed to suit Corbin's historic facade.

The new subway entrance and escalators at the base of the landmarked building are planned to open by the end of the year.

The MTA continues its rehabilitation work inside the Corbin's upper floors, and is making visible progress building out the new Fulton Center main building.
