Corbin Scaffold Removal Reveals Renovated Facade

The Corbin Building facade has been restored to its original colors
The Corbin Building facade has been restored to its original colors

At the corner of Broadway and John, scaffolding removal began this week at the Corbin Building, revealing a newly cleaned facade of the landmarked tower. Metropolitan Transportation Authority crews have spent the past two years replacing windows, cleaning bricks and terra cotta details, and restoring paint to its original shade -- all as part of the Fulton Center project. The scaffold and hoist should be completely removed by late November 2012, though crews will continue interior renovations. Work at the Corbin is taking place on weekends beginning at 9 a.m., in an effort to complete some construction elements before cold winter weather arrives.

The street-level retail and new subway entrance at the foot of the Corbin Building are expected to open in late 2012.
