Weekend ramp closures will affect Brooklyn Bridge traffic
|
This weekend, city Department of Transportation crews are performing final paving and concrete-installation operations on two Brooklyn Bridge ramps. The work requires the full weekend closure of Ramp A (from southbound FDR Drive onto the bridge) from Friday, May 18th at 11 p.m., continuously through Monday, May 21st at 6 a.m.
Additionally, Ramp C (from northbound FDR Drive onto the bridge) will be closed from Friday, May 18th at 11 p.m., through Saturday, May 19th at 10 a.m. Westbound Frankfort Street also will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, to accommodate concrete pours and remove the need for the temporary plates lining the ramp.

Motorists should consider alternate East River crossings to avoid traffic congestion from the FDR at the Brooklyn Bridge. To help maintain traffic flow, the DOT is implementing a special construction embargo for the weekend. Any construction permits for sites around the Brooklyn Bridge are suspended from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday.
The regular, nightly Brooklyn-bound contraflow traffic operations will continue this weekend as well. Details and exact hours can be found on the DOT website, or on the Project Update page.
