Dey Street Subway Stairs Closed This Week

The Dey Street Headhouse is slated to open July 31, 2012
The Dey Street Headhouse is slated to open July 31, 2012

The new Dey Street subway entry house construction is on track for summer completion, and with it, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) permanently closed the entrance on the northwest corner of Broadway and Dey Street (inside the 195 Broadway building) on May 1st. However, the subway entrance on the north side of the building, on the southwest corner of Broadway and Fulton Street, reopened on April 30th. MTA crews are now in the final stages of construction at the Dey Street entry house, where glass was installed earlier this year. It is expected to open approximately late July, with access to the rehabilitated 4/5 subway platforms and the new Dey Street Concourse. The work is part of the Fulton Street Transit Center, which is slated for overall completion in 2014.
