Chambers Closes Overnight for Eastbound Traffic

The work is expected to continue for approximately four weeks
The work is expected to continue for approximately four weeks

Beginning Monday, September 29th, Chambers Street between Greenwich and West Broadway will be closed to eastbound traffic from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. seven days a week. Vehicles will be diverted to Warren Street during those hours, when New York City Transit crews will relocate a water main on the southeast corner of Chambers and West Broadway. The relocation makes way for a new elevator at the 2/3 Chambers Street station -- one of four being installed there -- that will connect the mezzanine to the southbound subway platform.

Crews will not perform noisy work after 11 p.m., and will plate the work zone to accommodate normal daytime traffic flow. Westbound traffic on Chambers Street will not be affected, nor will pedestrian access. The work is expected to continue for approximately four weeks, through late October 2008.
