99 Washington topped out in January 2013
|
The new hotel at 99 Washington Street topped out at 50 stories this month, with crews from Cava Construction now completing rooftop bulkhead and parapet construction. The cocoon safety system around the uppermost floors will be removed from the site this weekend, requiring a full closure of Washington Street between Carlisle and Rector. It is planned for Saturday and Sunday, February 23rd and 24th, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. both days. (In the event of inclement weather, the operation will be rescheduled.) Flagpersons will be posted to help redirect traffic.
Over the weekend of March 2nd, crews are expected to close Washington Street again to dismantle the tower crane. More details will soon be announced.
At the foot of the building, crews also are completing utility work on Rector Street just east of Washington, with associated weekend lane closures expected in March.
Facade installation begins in early February at 99 Washington, and will continue through 2013. The new tower reportedly will be the tallest Holiday Inn in the world upon completion in early 2014.
