56 Leonard Street Closure for Crane Installation

56 Leonard construction resumed in fall 2012
56 Leonard construction resumed in fall 2012

The 56-story condominium tower at 56 Leonard Street, at the corner of Church Street, is now in the opening phase of superstructure erection. Contractor Lend Lease will install a tower crane at the site next month, with a Leonard Street full road closure expected starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 2nd, through 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 3rd. (In the event of inclement weather, the closure will be rescheduled.) Westbound motorists will be detoured to White Street, two blocks north. Two lanes of Church Street outside the site also will be closed for the crane installation.

The innovative new building, designed by the Swiss architectural firm Herzog and de Meuron, is expected to open in spring 2015, and will be among the tallest in Tribeca.
