W. Ortega, director of web and marketing for the Lower
Manhattan Construction Command Center, is responsible
for communications and website contract management.
He works with consultants and internal communications
staff to maintain accurate information on the LowerManhattan.info
website and in related communications material.
In his most recent work before joining the LMCCC, David
worked for the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation
and the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. His
projects have included annual reports, communication
material, outreach campaigns, advertisements, and exhibits,
and he also has been charged with marketing the various
agencies at different times to employees, residents,
tourists, and the general public.
He has worked as a designer in several industries,
including advertising, fashion, and entertainment. In
1998, he took a job with the Chicago White Sox, ultimately
helping the ball club bring its design work in house.
He would go on to repeat this process for three other
agencies.
David graduated with a BFA in graphic design from the
Savannah College of Art and Design in 1996 and received
his MS in communication design from Pratt Institute
in 2005.
