  Rector Street Weeknight Closures at 99 Washington
  With heavy construction now complete at the new 99 Washington Street Holiday Inn tower, crews are now completing facade and utility tie-ins. To complete water and sewer work, Rector Street will be closed between West and Greenwich on weeknights, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., starting May 20th through approximately June 20th.
  St. Johns Lane Weekday Full Closures
  Full closures on St. Johns Lane (from Laight to Beach) and York Street (from St. Johns to Sixth Ave.) in north Tribeca, will be in effect May 20-24, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
  Washington Street Pedestrian Plaza Opens in May
  On May 22nd and 23rd, the city DOT will begin installing a new pedestrian plaza on Washington Street, between Albany and Carlisle. The block-long plaza will close the roadway, replacing it with a painted gravel sidewalk, granite blocks, and planters, as well as movable tables and chairs, and an information kiosk. The new public space will help alleviate crowding on sidewalks, and safely improve pedestrian flow especially for National 9-11 Memorial visitors.
  N Moore Street Closure for Cobblestone Restoration
  Full cobblestone restoration is taking place on N. Moore Street, on the west end of the block between Hudson and Greenwich. The city Department of Design and Construction began the curb-to-curb restoration on May 21st, with a full road closure through approximately mid-July 2013.
  Fulton St. closed Saturday, May 25, 8am-5pm (Broadway to Nassau) for water main work
  56 Leonard Street Weeknight Closures for Utilities
  Construction of the new 56-story tower at 56 Leonard Street is underway, and crews are performing sewer and water tie-ins at the site. Full weeknight closures are necessary, planned for Leonard Street between Church and West Broadway, from Tuesday, May 28th through Thursday, June 6th, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  6 Platt Street Full Weekend Closures
  Construction of the new 30-story hotel is now above the 11th floor at 6 Platt Street (formerly known as 217 Pearl Street). Utility tie-ins at the building are now underway, and starting Saturday, April 27th, gas installation will take place between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. over five weekends, through May 26th.
  Annual Heart Run Heads to Wall Street May 30th
  The annual American Heart Association Wall Street Run and Walk is slated for Thursday evening, May 30th. Organized by the New York Road Runners, the three-mile run and walk begins at 6:45 p.m. and will impact traffic on several downtown streets as early as 4 p.m. Runners will gather at Greenwich Street between Murray and Barclay, disperse at Battery Park City’s North Cove.
  Weekend Road Closure on Duane Street June 1-2
  Crane operations at 110 Duane Street are planned for this weekend and will close Duane Street between Broadway and Trimble Place. The closure is planned for June 1st and 2nd, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Westbound motorists will be detoured to Desbrosses Street.

  MTA updates subway map with temp. closures and easier navigation
  Lower Manhattan weekend subway service diversions

  MTA Hosts Fulton Corridor Business Webpage
  With more than three dozen businesses located around the future Fulton Street Transit Center, the MTA is now hosting the Shop Fulton Street business-listings webpage: http://www.mta.info/nyct/FultonBusiness/index.html.
  Chambers Street Reconstruction Reroutes M22 bus
  Chambers Street is reduced to one-way westbound traffic between Greenwich and Broadway, rerouting eastbound M22 buses to Warren Street. The westbound M22 bus stops are located outside of the work zone.

Air Monitoring
 
  Air Monitors Added to Local Environmental Network
  State and city officials this week added three more air-monitoring units in the New York City neighborhoods hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy.The monitors will measure fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) to provide data on the potential impact Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts have had on air quality.
  Keeping Track of Environmental Quality
  With long-term rebuilding still underway, downtown environmental quality remains a priority. To help address local noise and air quality is the LMCCC and its environmental monitoring team. LowerManhattan.info joined Badar Usmani for one of his mobile air- and noise-monitoring walks to get a better sense of how his work supports quality of life during rebuilding.
  LMCCC Air Monitoring Program
  The LMCCC has implemented an air quality monitoring program to monitor the cumulative impact of all Lower Manhattan construction projects. The LMCCC is conducting daily air monitoring at the following sites throughout Lower Manhattan: 292 Greenwich Street, 80 Catherine Street, 1 World Financial Center and 154 Nassau Street.

  City Releases Preparedness Report in Wake of Sandy
  This month, the Mayors Office released the city After-Action report for Hurricane Sandy, a comprehensive review local preparedness measures and recovery operations before, during, and after the storm.
  Final 1 WTC Spire Pieces Ascend to Roof
  The last of 18 sections of the 1 World Trade Center steel spire today were lifted more than 140 stories high, onto the tower roof. The two final pieces will be affixed this week, completing the 408-foot-tall antenna and bring the total building height to 1,776 feet.
