Westbound Night Closures on Brooklyn Bridge

To facilitate Brooklyn Bridge rehabilitation, the city DOT is closing all Manhattan-bound lanes overnight. All westbound traffic will be detoured to the Manhattan Bridge or Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel during the closure hours. Brooklyn-bound traffic and pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained. The closures are expected to continue overnight through the end of the project in 2014.

Chambers Street Now One-Way Westbound

Water-main replacement on Chambers Street is underway between West Street and West Broadway. As of August 29th, Chambers is reduced to one-way westbound traffic between West Broadway and West Street. The one-way traffic revision will remain in place through the end of the project, though work will eventually shift to the block between West Broadway and Church Street. The eastbound M22 bus will be redirected to Warren Street. Regular traffic will be detoured to either Murray or Canal Street.

9/11 Construction Embargo Planned

The annual construction embargo for September 11th is planned to begin Sunday, September 5th at 12:01 a.m., and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, September 11th. The city DOT implements the embargo each year, suspending work on projects around the World Trade Center site for September 11th memorial events. Some work will be permitted behind barriers within the embargoed areas until 6 p.m. on Thursday September 10th. Emergency work will be permitted with DOT approval.

Hudson Street Water Main Project Begins
|

The city is working to update its water-supply system, including rebuilding and replacing miles of water mains in Manhattan that tie into the third water tunnel. The project is extending to Lower Manhattan, where work will take place in north Tribeca around the Holland Tunnel rotunda, on Hudson and adjacent streets, through winter 2015. Preliminary work for the Third Water Tunnel Trunk project kicks off with test pits the week of August 23rd.

Nassau-Ann Intersection Weekend Closures

Starting the weekend of August 14th, the intersection of Ann and Nassau Streets will be closed for capital reconstruction work. The closure will be in effect every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through approximately November 2010.

Select Bus Service Brings Rapid Transit Downtown |
| |
The MTA is extending First and Second Avenue Select Bus Service (SBS) to Lower Manhattan, with all-day dedicated bus lanes to reduce travel time -- benefitting approximately 57,000 daily M15 bus passengers. Work is now beginning to create new SBS stations at six key stops downtown. They include one major SBS terminal at the South Ferry bus loop, slated to open this summer outside Whitehall Ferry Terminal. The entire route up to Harlem should be active this October.

Chambers Street Reconstruction Reroutes M22 bus |

To accommodate capital reconstruction utility work, Chambers Street is reduced to one-way westbound traffic between West and W. Broadway. That traffic change will reroute eastbound M22 buses to Warren Street. The westbound M22 bus stops will be shifted outside of the work zone. Regular traffic will be redirected to either Murray or Canal Street.

Frankfort Street Bus Stops Relocated |
| |
The New York City Department of Transportation required the relocation of the M22 and several express bus stops on Frankfort Street between Pearl Street and Gold Street.

Air Monitoring at 130 Liberty Street |
| |
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and other regulators and agencies continue to oversee air quality at the 130 Liberty Street site. Air monitoring is ongoing with daily samples and analysis.

LMCCC Air Monitoring Program |

The LMCCC has implemented an air quality monitoring program to monitor the cumulative impact of all Lower Manhattan construction projects. The LMCCC is conducting daily air monitoring at the following sites throughout Lower Manhattan: 292 Greenwich Street, 80 Catherine Street, 1 World Financial Center and 154 Nassau Street.
