This work is part of the Beekman and Park Place Reconstruction Project
Beekman Street and Park Place reconstruction began in 2007
As part of its plan to improve and update downtown’s infrastructure, the city Department of Design and Construction (DDC) launched the capital reconstruction of Beekman Street and Park Place in late October 2007.

The city posts signs for traffic changes and road/lane closures as they occur. Together with the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center, the DDC also hosts periodic community stakeholder meetings.

Summary

BEEKMAN STREET: Capital reconstruction continues on Beekman Street from the firehouse (midblock) to Gold Street through November 2009. Crews have closed that half-block of Beekman, and will work weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends as necessary.

Work also continues on Beekman from Park Row to Nassau Street, with a full road closure in effect through April 2010 (in two segments - Nassau to Theater Alley, and Theater Alley to Park Row).

PARK PLACE: Reconstruction work is underway on the north side of Park Place between Church Street and Broadway. Westbound traffic will be prohibited, but two eastbound traffic lanes will be maintained throughout project. Buses on that block of Park Place are re-routed to Warren Street on October 13th. Work there continues through appx. November 2009.

Con Edison electric work will occupy the east lane of Church between Park Place and Barclay Street from mid-October through mid-November 2009.
