TRAFFIC PATTERN/STREET PARKING CHANGES:
STARTING SATURDAY AUGUST 15, 2009, AND CONTINUING UNTIL NOVEMBER 2009.
On Saturday August 15, 2009, and every Saturday and Sunday until completion, the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) will begin reconstruction of the intersections at Nassau Street and at Theatre Alley at Beekman Street. This work will include city sewers and utility reconstruction as well as the construction of new curbs, sidewalks, and roadways.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS: (Park Row – Nassau Street)
- No traffic will be allowed onto Beekman Street from Park Row.
- No traffic will be allowed onto Beekman Street from Theater Alley.
- No traffic will be allowed to enter Nassau Street from Ann Street.
- Only Emergency Vehicles, vehicles making deliveries, and vehicles going to the Public Parking Garage on Beekman Street, will be allowed to enter the area on William Street.
COMMUNITY IMPACTS:
- Hours of Operation: work will be performed on weekends (mainly Saturdays) 8:00am to 8:00pm.
- Noise: The Beekman/Park Place Project is being monitored and is in conformance with New York City Noise regulations.
Traffic lmpacts: Vehicular traffic will be affected by this work. Parking will be temporarily restricted. Signs will be posted. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your patience while we rebuild New York City's infrastructure.

THE BEEKMAN STREET & PARK PLACE PROJECT
The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) continue work on the Beekman/Park Place infrastructure project. This Joint Bid Project offers the opportunity to maintain and/or upgrade community services such as electric, gas, steam, water, sewer at the same time causing less disruption to the community. DDC appreciates your patience and cooperation while we diligently rebuild our city’s aging infrastructure.
BEEKMAN STREET STATUS:
Work completed:
- Curb on the north and south side has been installed between Nassau Street and Theatre Alley Intersection. The work by Con Edison at Theatre Alley has been completed.
Current work:
- Utility work on Beekman between 49 Beekman Street and Gold Street is continuing on schedule. Con Edison has completed building a new manhole at the intersection of Gold Street.
- Con Edison will be working some Saturday’s during months of November and December at Beekman/Gold intersection. The intersection at Nassau Street has been backfilled and temporally asphalted, so that trucks can enter through Park Row for deliveries to Beekman Towers.
Upcoming work: November - December, 2009
- Beekman Street (49 Beekman – 7 Gold Street) Con Edison will complete work sometime in December and depending on the weather conditions, the remaining curb and sidewalk will be completed.
PARK PLACE STATUS:
Work completed:
Approximately one third of the curb has been installed on the north side.
Current work:
Excavation will continue on site, this will be followed by installation of new utilities.
Upcoming work: November and December, 2009
Con Edison and contractor will complete all utility work including sewer replacement. Final paving will be done weather permitting.
